General objective: To investigate the changes in lung function as well as the onset and development of allergic and non-allergic asthma and chronic obstructive bronchopneumopathy (COBP) in adults as they age. Secondary objectives: - To study the onset and development of respiratory allergies and COBP in men and women from the general population, and to research associations with lifestyle and environmental factors, taking into account interactions between these factors and other personal and biological determinants. - To research associations with sensitisation to allergens (atopy), respiratory allergies, accelerated lung function decline and the development of COBP. - To investigate the natural history of allergic and non-allergic asthma (incidence, remission, severity) according to age and gender. - To evaluate the effects of obesity and importance of weight loss and physical activity on asthma severity and decline in lung function, as well as investigate the role of sex hormones and hormones linked to obesity such as leptin.
null
null
